The Greek myth of Icarus might just be the most well known cautionary tale. With too much hubris comes despair - Icarus strapped wings to himself, made of feather and wax, but flew too close to the sun, attempting to gain the height of the gods. But the wax melted, ending in tragedy for him.
Here, he is represented in a moment of joy before the catastrophe, soaring into the clouds with feathered wings outstretched.
